Quarks: The Search for the Elementary Particle

For as long as philosophy has existed, mankind has puzzled over the physical nature of the world around us. What makes up solids, and liquids? Are the two related? What of gases? These and other similar questions have plagued history's great thinkers for literally thousands of years. In these pages, you will find an outline of the search for the answers to these questions; from the first concept of an 'elementary particle', to the current theories on what the universe is made of.

These pages are intended only to give a rough idea of the concepts. The current theories are forever changing, and contain far more math and theory than can be expressed by this site.  But for the curious, it is a step towards understanding what makes up the physical world we live in. Enter, and let your imagination roam free!
